Little Girl

Little girl

where is your self-respect

your intellect

the things that make you strong

the things that make you great

it can’t be found

in cars and clothes

that are bought by men

who disrespect your prowess

Silly girl

where is your pride

your independent side

the things that show you’re determined

the things that show you’re important

it can’t be found

in lust and sex

that are brought to you by men

who have no sense of your true beauty

Naive girl

where is your desire

your eruptive fire

the things that make you fierce

the things that make you one of a kind

it can’t be found

in fake hello’s and phony blown kisses

that are shared amongst “friends”

who pull you down in darkness

Sweet girl

where is your heart

your means to set apart

the things that make you a woman

the things that make you different

it can’t be found

in laziness and lame excuses

that are brought on by self loath

which could break you

Oh girl

find your beauty

it’s your duty

to love who you are

to forge your own path

it can be found

within yourself

that is strengthened by your will to survive

only you can reach the prize
