Check One Off The Bucket List
Anyone who has ever come in contact with me knows that publishing a book is one of my life goals. If you are close to me, you know that publishing a book is the short-term goal and being a prolific writer is the long-term goal.
Well, I have checked publishing a book off my to-do list. As of yesterday The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: The Struggles of Being Bipolar has been published on LuLu.com. I have to say, I was so nervous about hitting the publish button (my second oldest daughter actually did the honors. lol).
This has been something I have wanted since I was a child. While other kids wanted to be teachers, police officer and firefighters; I wanted to be an author. As I got older, I couldn’t just stay in the author realm, so I decided becoming a writer was way more fun, interesting and less limiting.
It may seem that I am making a big deal out of nothing; especially given the fact that people are publishing books, good or bad, at an alarming rate. That’s just it though. There are so many books out in the universe, I get a little self-conscious about the words I write.
But no more. Well. At least, not this time.
I got the molasses out of my tush and put together a book. Not just any book either. This compilation of poetry delves into the bipolar mind; a very tricky and sometimes scary place. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly is a very personal book. The poems were written during thought processes that I do not readily share with others.
Allowing this very personal book to be the first in more to come was a difficult and easy decision. The reason it was difficult is because being bipolar is not something that people understand. It can be hard to admit the things that go on in my mind, but it is my reality and makes me who I am. The reason it was easy is the fact that because this is a subject that is so touchy, readers will see how serious I am about this writing thing.
It’s a win/win scenario. I get to teach and comfort people when it comes to bipolar. Also, it allows me to shed the mask that I wear daily. My hopes are that people will check the book out and respond positively to it.
I am already putting together a second book, as long as I don’t chicken out, which will be an e-book about my dealings with domestic abuse. Another touchy subject, but a story that needs to be told.
Thank you so much for continuing to show your support and I indeed wish all of you gets a chance to read The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: The Struggles of Being Bipolar.
Until next time.
