As Long As You Keep Going….

http://trinalynne.wordpress.comEver felt like throwing the towel in? Did you wake up one day and wonder, “What am I doing”? Have you ever worked so hard but felt like it was never enough?

If you have, you’re not alone.

There were many times I wanted to give in and give up.

So often I would see people who started off the same time as me, or even after me, getting far ahead in the race. There were days I woke up and wondered why I tried when it felt like I was going nowhere.

Do you know the feeling I’m talking about?

For over 6 years I strive at the same thing – to be a prolific writer. Trust me, it’s not an easy task. Do you know the amount of work that goes into that sort of dream? There are writers that are super far ahead in that category.

Notice I said prolific, not famous. If I can write a million poems the world will see, that would suit me.

The stress of wanting such a thing would cause anyone to question their ability, especially when measuring it up to others. You know how it seems there are writers out there whom seem not to try, but manage to crank out tons of work, regardless if it’s grammatically correct or not.

Stuff like that makes your mind play tricks on you, ya know.

I mean, have you toiled over a story hoping it would be the greatest thing you’ve ever written. Then you wake up one morning and someone, who wasn’t even trying, gets attention from a movie director by cranking out a story 140 characters at a time on social media.

We all have those moments – the ones that make us question if we made the right decision to keep going.

But that’s just it.

As long as you keep moving, you’re bound to get where you’re going. Whether it takes 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years, consistency is key. No one can deny that.

Everyone has a bad day. You just have to keep moving forward. And sometimes you may have to double back to make sure you’re going the right way.

Don’t worry. We all go through the same things, just in different ways.
