Children’s Content

I watch my children’s innocence with awe

The way they have no worries and all

Oh, if only to be oblivious to reality like them

As they tug gleefully at my skirt’s hem

They smile and laugh without care

Not needing to pay attention to their own welfare

Oh, to be as free as they

Playing as the trees sway

Their happiness so easily attained

Not needing to deal with any sort of strain

Oh, to go about life as if it were perfectly fine

I wouldn’t trade their happiness for mine

They have time before they are grown

And have to deal with the world on their own

So I just bask in the joy of them being kids

And hope that when they get older they have it easier than I did
