30 Day Challenge: Day 5

Day #5

Today was such a long day. It included many mental roadblocks that I need a super bulldozer for. In these situations I can become incredibly blocked and no amount of inspiration comes to me no matter how much I beg the universe to allow it.

My 30 day challenge does not only deal with writing and toning my body, it involves my entire life. As other things in my life begin to come together my writing flows effortlessly – most times. Today was one of those days when the flow just wasn’t there. But that’s okay.

Most times I would get tremendously frustrated if I couldn’t come up with something to write – whether it was a poem, short story, article or even just a page of free thought. It would irritate me so much that the irritation would cause more of a blockage. Instead of causing more of a block, I just decided to allow the day to pass and read.

Reading is a way to gain back inspiration that could have been lost while dealing with other things. One of the reasons I fell in love with reading is it let’s you go to another place and meet new people. Of course in most cases these people and places aren’t real, but they grant you the opportunity to be somewhere else for a while.

That’s something I have learned. I need to forgive myself when I don’t write and life gets in the way. It doesn’t make me any less of a writer. It makes me human.
